- Promote knowledge (authorship, history, meaning...) of public art works and foster respect of them.
- Practice with web 2.0 tools.
- Encourage collaboration among students through art.
Target audience and Registration
Students from 10 to 18 years old.Groups of 6-8 students are better than whole classes. In this way everyone can actively participate in project activities.
Register separately for each group please (see "Registration" tab).
Registration are in September 2011 and also in February 2012. You can participate in the project from October to December and also from March to May.
How to participate
- Choose a public art work in your town or neighborhood.
- Search information about it (author, history, meaning...).
- Describe the work (shape, materials, dimensions...).
- Take a picture of the work.
- Write a short report about the work summarizing the information you found and your observations.
- Record the words of your report in an audio file (mp3 or wav). We suggest that you use Audacity to do it.
- Create a Woices echo (see Woices tab): place the art work on the map, paste your report and upload your picture and your record.
- Send an email to publicart.project@gmail.com and tell us the URL of your echo (see Woices tab).
- Look at the home page of this site to find links to the contributions.
- Comment respectfully contributions of others on Woices.
Remarks
- All pictures must be original. Don't use images from Internet.
- Public art works must be placed in public spaces, in the open air.
- Present sculptures, murals, fountains or urban furniture but not buildings, towers, bridges and other constructions.
- Each group can make a maximum of two contributions to the project.
